1. Introduction
Wingman Chat (“we,” “our,” “us”) is designed to help travelers connect offline — without requiring Wi-Fi, mobile data, or internet servers.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Wingman Chat app or visit our website.
By using Wingman Chat, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Data We Collect
Wingman Chat is intentionally built to minimise data collection.
We do not:
Collect or store chat messages on any server.
Track your location or contacts.
Require account registration, email, or phone number.
All chats occur peer-to-peer directly between nearby devices and are never uploaded to our servers.
We do collect anonymous usage and crash data via Firebase to improve the app — see Section 6 for details.
Route Board Posts. When you use the Route Board feature, the text of your post and your selected route (origin and destination airport codes) are stored on Google Firebase (Firestore). Posts are not linked to your name, Apple ID, device identifier, or any account. Posts are publicly visible to any Wingman user who selects the same route.

3. Data We Temporarily Process
To enable local chat functionality, Wingman Chat may temporarily process limited data on your device only, such as:
Display name and seat number you voluntarily provide.
Profile photo you choose to share.
Chat messages and reactions exchanged during your session.
This information:
Stays on your device and is shared only with nearby devices you choose to chat with.
Messages are stored locally on your device to support the chat experience and can be deleted by you at any time within the app.
We do not upload messages to our servers.
If you have iCloud enabled on your device, iOS may back up locally stored data — including messages — to your personal iCloud account. This sync is managed entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Purchases & Subscriptions
Subscriptions are processed by Apple via In-App Purchase. We do not receive your full payment details (such as your credit card number). Apple may share limited purchase information with us (for example, subscription status) so we can unlock access in the app.
We use RevenueCat to validate subscriptions and enable features like restoring purchases. RevenueCat may process purchase receipts and anonymous identifiers for subscription verification. This data is used only for subscription management and is not used for advertising.

5. Offline Messaging & Local Connectivity
Wingman Chat uses local peer-to-peer (P2P) networking such as WiFi and local discovery frameworks (e.g., Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity). Chat messages and profile details you share are transmitted directly between nearby devices and do not pass through our servers.
Note: Subscription purchases and restores may require an internet connection because they are handled by Apple’s App Store.
Google Firebase (Firestore). Route Board posts are stored in Google Cloud Firestore. Google's privacy policy applies to this data: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect your Apple App Store receipt and subscription status. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

6. Crash Reports and Diagnostics
We use Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to automatically collect anonymous crash reports. These help us identify and fix bugs. No personal data is included.
We use Firebase Analytics (by Google) to collect anonymous usage data — for example, which features are used most. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.

7. Website Usage (wingmanchat.com)
Our website is purely informational.
We do not use cookies, trackers, or analytics tools except those strictly necessary for hosting (Squarespace’s internal performance logs).
If you email us (e.g., to join the waitlist), we will only use your email address to respond to your inquiry or notify you about the app launch.

8. Data Retention
Wingman Chat stores chat messages locally on your device to support the chat experience. You can delete chats at any time within the app.
We do not store chat messages on our servers.
Route Board posts are stored on Google Firebase (Firestore) and are retained indefinitely unless removed at your request. To request removal of a post, contact us at support@wingmanchat.com with the post content and approximate time of posting.
If iCloud is enabled on your device, Apple may retain a backup of locally stored app data — including messages — in your iCloud account. You can manage or delete this via iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Any emails you send to us are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry.

9. Children’s Privacy
Wingman Chat is intended for users aged 17 and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us to request deletion.

All local communication is encrypted and transmitted only between nearby devices.
Because chats are not stored or synced online, there is no central database to breach.

11. Your Rights (GDPR & EU Users)
Wingman Chat does not store your chat messages or personal profile on any server. For data that exists only on your device, you can delete it at any time within the app.
We do use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (by Google), which may process anonymous data on Google's servers. While this data is not linked to your identity, you may contact us at support@wingmanchat.com to request information about what data has been collected or to request deletion.
If you are located in the EU or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold. As we collect no personally identifiable information directly, most requests will be resolved by confirming that no such data exists.
Because Route Board posts are anonymous and not linked to an account, we are unable to identify which posts belong to a specific user. If you believe a post is yours and wish it removed, contact us with the post content and approximate time of posting.
